Physical size, and output on mesa OT find
Okay, I picked up an OT for $3.00 at a music flea market. It is supposedly from a Mesa Boogie. The guy had no other info. I measured 4k on the primary(blue-brown) with an assumed load on the sec taps being 8, 16, and 32 ohms. Huh? 32 ohms? This leads me to believe it is for a quad of 6L6s. But the transformer is just slightly bigger than a 50 watter I have laying around. As I recall, Mesa uses smaller iron in their amps. I'm just wandering if this tranny will handle the current of 4 6L6s. It's fairly new looking. Isn't it unlikely that there would be a 32 ohm tap on a newer guitar amp? So, if it were a 4 X 6l6 tranny, the sec taps would be 4, 8, and 16 ohm taps? Any info is appreciated.
Thanks,
Stan

What about 2 6l6's at 2000 ohms primary, with 4, 8, and 16 ohm secondaries?

You're talking about 2 6L6s per side, right? That's what I was asking. Paralleling will give me 2k with a 4,8,16 ohm load...I think.
I just need a little more prodding to understand this better:)Thanks,
Stan

I'm sorry, I was confused. I thought 2 6l6's wanted 2000 ohms...
