5f6a Cabinet Diagram
I am looking for info on cabinet dimensions and preferred woods for a 5f6a bassman. I have just finished the chassis and need to build a cab for it.Any help would be appreciated.
And now, a word from our sponsors:

Scott. I've tried to find this info also. I built a cab using dimensions from the fafg but never found measurements for the back panels. I think I could come close by looking at pics but it would be nice to have the real specs. Keep in mind that the cab depth tapers from bottom to top by 1" it is not 10.5"at the top(Narrow panel, closed back w/ 2 ports, 23" x 22" x 10" (58.4 x 57.2 x 26.7 cm). Also the fafg is incorrect stating "closed back w/ 2 ports" that description fits the tv front models I believe. The wood should be 3/4" yellow pine but is harder to find around here than white pine. White pine is lighter and softer than yellow. I think the speaker baffel was 5/16 fir plywood and you can probably find 3/8 yellow pine plywood as a close sub. Cabinet should be joined using 1/4" finger joints. Good luck...M

Guys. I have CAD drawings of my original 1959 Bassman, including the back panels. Email me at and I'll send you a copy.

By the way, my bassman is an original 5F6-A (I called it a 1959, which is the year model).
