I'll put a pair of m12's in my 2-12 this weekend and see what the differences are between those and the v12's.

So I tried the m12's and they are a lot less honky in the midrange than the v12 and with a tighter bass response. Not boomy at all. The speaker is very clean sounding, almost a midscooped sound, with just enough midrange to please my G&L Legacy (with an Evolution in the bridge, H2 in the middle and a PAF Pro in the Neck).  
 
Looking at the response graphs on the Eminence site, the m12's bass rolls off faster and there is a steep dip around 1.5Khz. If fat and honky is your sound, the v12 is good. If clean and tight is your sound, the m12 is it. FWIW, the m12's are brand new and still need broken in.  
 
I'm going to put 2 m12's, a Vintage 30, and a v12 in my 4-12 and see how that sounds.
