if someone wants to check out this schematic:
http://www.sitecenter.dk/neptun_krusen/nss-folder/audiotextwhatever/SKREDDYfeedbackerQs.gif

it's the 'Nasty Feedbacker' by Marc Ahlfs '02
but i've got some questions on it.
could someone please englighten me - or re-draw the schem for me, so it's easier to see how things are wired?
and what switches are used?
1 DPDT
1 SPST

You're on your own
I haven't even built one of those things yet. It's just an idea I had. Use whatever parts you have lying around and tell us how you do! :)

I imagined that you could use this device for fuzzes and phasers, etc., and that you could use a momentary footswitch for the feedback function for a cool special effect, or leave it on all the time just at the brink of feedback to have it interact with your guitar notes.

Have fun!

alrighty.. good answer! :D

i'll try it out in the weekend (i hope).

but i still have begginers' difficulties with wiring pots.
i know a pot is read top-to-bottom: 3,2,1
but is the "1" ALWAYS where the pot is at, when you've turned it fully counterclockwise?

like in the Nasty Feedback schem; the "2" lug on some pots, have the wire/components coming in from the left side of the pot, and on some it's on the right side?
does this matter? or is a pot always wired up with "1" on the bottom?
and howabout if a pot is shown, lying down?
what's what then?

sorry for the long ramble. :embaresed:

I think I tried to take into account what physical orientation the pot should have (so that you imagine you're looking at the rear of the pot), but I'm sure I wasn't thorough, and frankly didn't care that much to bother getting them all right. If you make the middle lug the one with the arrow in the schematic and you find that turning it 'up' makes it go lower (and vice-versa), then reverse wires 1 and 3 and make a note of it. I'll correct the schematic accordingly. Good job, BTW, pasting in that drawing of the DPDT.

Maybe I'll build one over the weekend, too! I've been meaning to try it out on an old phaser I have.

Basically, the high-cut, bass-cut, assym, battery-drain, and distortion controls are all optional if you care to simplify. One other nifty thing I thought of was to draw off some of that battery voltage to use as an on/off LED indicator whilst maintaining its battery-free convenience.

Good luck, Cedric! Let me know what you end up doing with it.

Don't waste your time
Complete crap. Needs to be done with an active buffer and mixer. The way it is now is just a huge ground loop/noise/hum generator.
