Fender Deluxe Layout / Mission Layout Hi Everybody, I am a newbie to amp building. Decided to jump in with a 5E3 kit I bought from Marsh Amps in NJ. Mine came with the Fender Deluxe Layout http://www.ampwares.com/ffg/schem/deluxe_5e3_layout.gif I see it differs in a few areas from the Mission Layout mainly the wiring that goes to the power and preamp tubes. I am assuming the Mission Layout has been modified from the original Fender layout to reduce noise. Is this correct and should I wire mine this way instead of to the Original Fender layout? Also thinking about ditching the ground switch in favor of the stanby switch. I've read a few things on this forum that have already helped me out a lot. Any input is greatly appreciated. I'm documenting my progress and plan to post this on my website soon. here's a pic of my completed circuit board http://www.chrometop.com/images/wired_board2.jpg Thanks, BP |

BP; I'm a neophite to Amp Homebrewing too. Here's what Bruce's site says about his mods: Using all the experience I've had over the years with tweed fender Amps, the minor circuit modifications to the Mission: Tweedy Deluxe 5E3 type project amp are just to reduce noise, hum and increase reliability. Nice job on your Board! CR ><> |

I can't comment on the original fEnder schematic, but my Mission version is dead-nuts quiet. I'm tickled to death about that. |

Looking at Bruce's layout, there's definitely more filtering going on there. CR ><> |
