What is everyone's Tone Seting on 5E3
Following on Paul S's thread about 5E3 being too bright...how high does everyone have their tone knob set?

My setting is 3 without an eq pedal and with pedal I can go as high as 4, but I think my missionamp may also be to bright. I am plugged into the brite channel and jumped to the normal.

Have tried different inputs, speakers etc...Can;t imagine going beyond 4...Maybe in a live band setting. But, when I first fired up my tweed, my first thought was not wow...too much bass in this amp like others have commented???

It really depends on the speaker, but usually between 4-6 when at low volumes. If I'm turning the volume up past 8, I may turn the tone up or down.

But most guys here are playing P12N's, Q's, or R's, which are subtly different speakers compared to say a JBL and a Jensen P12R.

You may try hooking straight up to the normal inputs. But there's nothing wrong with what you have it set at. Hey, turn your tone to 1 if you want, that's what it's there for.

Cheers

9, 9, and 9. I love this amp.

I very very seldom get a comment about the amps being too bright.
Most players report to me they like the brite channel best and the tone control around 6 to 8, maybe a little less when the volume lower.
No channel jumpering, plugged into the brite channel, with tone at 7 to 9 and the brite volume around 4 to 6 and the normal channel volume around 9 to 10.
It's makes a difference what guitar and pickups are used of course.

I have mine on seven right now, using the bright channel as the overdrive channel and the normal as my clean, 8 and 3 volumes, respectively. I think it is a bit bright, but in some part due to my speakers having not broken in yet (Weber P12Qs). Really, it's not too bright, just not enough lows yet.
