5E3 microphonics?

5E3 microphonics? Hello all, After finishing the amplifier section of my 5E3, I ran it into a seperate speaker cab while I built the box to house it. It seemed to work fine. After finishing the box,installing a speaker, and the amp, it produced a strange resonant (unpleasant), high frequency tone on certain notes. I ran it back to the previous speaker cab, and the tone was gone. Hmmm...then I tried tapping on the chassis, and the sound was reproduced through the speakers (quite loudly). Slightly harder tapping resulted in a loud "Skwonking noise". Any ideas on where to look first? Thanks, Mike |

Well, duhhh... Welllll, duuhhh...maybe it was that bad solder connection that resulted in the lose wire to the 12AY7 that vibrated every time I "tapped" the amp. Fixed it. Mike |
