Question For Bruce Or Anyone Else ?? I have really come to like the Tone and quietness of using 6L6's in my original 5E3 Deluxe tweed with a SS effects processor in the front-end. It is really a unique tone that no other combination will even come close to but I'm worried about frying the OT and surely don't want that. Is there a way I can fuse it to except a current rating that when it gets to that point it will blow the fuse instead of the tranny ? Also how will different 6L6's react with the currents like for instance if I'm using say a 6L6GB as opposed to a Svetlana GC or even my blackplate RCA's ?, KB |

Yes, put a slow blo 250ma to 500ma fuse in the center tap lead to the OT.

Re: Thanks Bruce !! I'll put the fuse in and I also read the thread below that Rick was posting on and I agree about the Blue Dog really sounding good with that amp and the old 6v6 Sylvania/RCA GTA and Blackplates are nice too. I got alot out of that thread so thanks again., KB |

6L6 Set ups For what its worth, the set up I have settled in on for live jamming is Philips 6L6s, ss rectifier, one Webber Blue Dog and an external 1x15 cabinet with a Webber California. I drive it with a Tube screamer, keep the amp volume on 12 and turn down the volume on my guitar. It sounds monsterous and is quite loud enough to keep up with a band. It can go from very clean to very overdriven just by turning the guitar volume and the tube sreamer sends it over the top, if needed. My only problem is it is a little noisey, probably from one of the mods I did. I will figure that out some day. Not that anyone asked....... Rich |
