Well, "sound different, maybe not too much" might have been a bit of an understatement but I haven't heard his amp so I rather be a bit coy!
Did you happen to monitor an O'scope when you did your graph?
I'm curious what the waveform looks like when you drive it up that hard in power output.
What stock Fender OT did you use?
And I still think Royce's model #1 was the best new amp design I'd seen in a long ass time.... had it printed out and stuck on my frige for quite a few months!
I'm bummed I didn't know there was an new improved model!!
How long has that one been out?

frank, sorry, i thought it would be obvious from the graph - the screen resistor (I mis-spoke earlier its 5K not 5.6K) is responsible for a lot of the compression in the 5E3. Even if you don't see it, you should hear it.

bruce, I did monitor the output and there was nothing unusal about it in either case. It starts clean, it gets rounder, it clips. The transformer I used is one from a reissue deluxe reverb which is a remake of the 125A1A. I'll pass along your comments on the royce amps - many thanks.
