Re: Throw away your solder iron....CyberTwin Fender amps of the 50's and 60's were very well made, compared to their competitors' amps of that time. I've seen so many sloppy construction jobs inside amps of the 50's and 60's. Fender amps never really got sloppy 'till the 70's, when Leo had jack to do with things in Fullerton. Look how many old Fender amps are still truckin': lots. There are no stats on this, unfortunately, but I think Fender made the most reliable amplifiers of his time (besides the best sounding). Bob |

| Jim-Bo | Maybe you all should give the cyber a test drive before you report your product reviews? One thing about silicone, it can sure take a beating. And it doesn't show its age. As for tubes, any of you know of any "high-quality" North American manufacturers still in the business? Yeah, I might be fanning a few flames, but hey, got face a few truths... they're out there. |

Hopefully soon the way to enjoy digital modeling will be to download some shareware from Lycos and just plug into your sound card, instead of dropping a packet on an amp that doesn't work like a traditional amp. Shea |

I drive a car with points and a carburetor. Everyone tells me these are obsolete but I'll blow there doors off at the strip on Fridays. I like to tweek with it, thats half the fun. If it breaks two hundred miles from home I can fix it and keep going. I know I loose some convenience but the cost and enjoyment more than make up for it. I don't hate digital, it has its place, I upgrade my computer every year. Just because its new doesn't mean its better. Brett |

I work in a music store and have tried a few digital amps. THEY SOUND LIKE SHIT SQUARED!!!!!!!!. They had a so called BF and tweed and marshall setting BULLSHIT! I could not for the life of me figure out how to make those things work right. I did sound for a band and the guy had digital stuff and when the voltage dropped the stuff stopped working, I told him to buy a bassman head to have as a backup. In drag racing they still use HEMI engines designed in the 50's and 60's and we use amps designed in the same time period. If they had one that worked I'd buy it. For now they don't have the technology, yet. Maybe in a few years when they have a computer to mimic human emotion they can figure out how to mimic tube amps. How can you tell a chip to hold on to a note and let it feedback just enough to hear that sweet sound like when you bend a string 2 steps up to the root note and then use a clapton/ B.B. King like vibrato. IMO, NOAH |

Shit, I've got my girlfriend stashed inside my amp and she does alot more than just reconfigure the tone stack. That's old news! |

Holy cats, Bob -- if she does a lot more than reconfigure for you, she must be quite a woman! Next thing you'll tell us she's a baseball fan and loves to cook. How about a t-shirt that says, "Old amps never die, they just give back their shorts." |
