Chieftain Voltage ?
Any body got some schem of the chieftain

with the voltage for all sections.

Have you checked the schems at Steve A.'s site?

I think the handdrawn ones has voltage indications for pretty much all sections.

Which section(s) are you missing?

Are working on a real Cheiftain or building a clone?

I am building a clone myself.

Yes i checked the schems at Aholas site.

But it doesn«t have the power supply section.

I«m building a clone for my own use.

There's a factory schem at Steve A.'s too - with the power supply section included.

The OT has 350-0-350v

B+1 - at the first filter cap = 415v

EL34 pin 4 = 369v

24v across the each cathode resistor - the power tubes sure are cooking!

The plate voltages for the PI and the preamp sections are on the handdrawn schem and some of them on the factory schem too!

What else do you need?

Parallel tube stages... are they really necessary?

I was thinking that you could build a decent Chieftain clone with just two 12AX7's by skipping the reverb and not running the both stages of the two preamp tubes in parallel. Couple that with your choice of cathode-biased output tubes and it might be a lot of fun...

Any thoughts on that? To run the preamp stages singly, you would double the resistance of the plate and cathode resistors, and then cut the value of the Ck caps in half- is that correct? As for the 1M reverse audio taper pot wired up as a variable resistor for the bass control, couldn't I just wire up a 1MA pot using the CCW terminal and the wiper? (As far as I can tell the CCW terminal of the RA pot is the one that isn't used.) Or am I all mixed up about reverse audio tapers???   ;)

Using a pair of EL84's it seems like it would be a nice step up from a Matchless Spitfire clone...

P.S. All 3 tone controls are wired up as variable resistors.... maybe someone can tell us which terminal to leave unconnected. (I always seem to wire up bass and presence controls backwards if I don't have a layout drawing to copy!   :(   )
