||5E3 Tweed Deluxe Tone Control Questions|
Greetings all. I'm looking to gain a better understanding of how the tone control found on some Fender amps like the 5E3 Deluxe works. There are two caps: a 500 pF cap from the volume pot to the tone pot and a .005 uF cap from the tone pot to ground. How does changing the values of these caps change the response of the tone control? For example, I've seen a number of Fender designs with this type of tone control that use a .01 or .02 uF cap instead of the .005 uF cap to ground. All the designs have the 500 pF cap. How does increasing the cap to ground change the sound of the control and the amp. Any ideas on which cap setup sounds best? Thanks in advance for your help.
