Gibson GA19RVT I recently acquired a GA19RVT, the transformer dates to week 38 of 1964. The published schematics are different than the amp I have. Anyway, there is a 7 pin socket located at V3 and I cannot ID that tube. The amp is inoperative at the moment. Where can I obtain a correct schematic for this amp? Any comments would be welcome. |

Jonathan, It should be a 6EU7. Here's a link to the schematic, and to a Gibson amp schematic page that you may want to bookmark. Hope this is different than the one you have, or maybe someone tweaked your amp. I have a friend with one of those and it's a good little amp. http://hem.passagen.se/ekabjan/Amps/AmpData.htm#LesPaul http://hem.passagen.se/ekabjan/Amps/Schematics/ga-19rvt_style1.jpg Have fun!! 6EU7 is a 9-pin that looks and performs exactly like a 12AX7 but has a different pinout and is only capable of being used with nominal 6.3V heater supply. Some Gibsons use a shorter, smaller diameter 7-pin 6AU6 as a tremolo/vibrato tube, other small amps may have a 7-pin 6X4 rectifier. The 6AU6 usually has a cylindrical plate structure almost the diameter & height of its small bottle. A 6X4 usually has two flat plate structures at right angles to each other and is also smaller in diameter than a 12AX7 but taller than one, almost as tall as a 6BQ5/EL84. Hope this helps, Mike |

That's a pretty interesting website Brad! Good one... how'd I miss it? How's that 500 watt gronk tube amp coming along? Bruce |

Bruce, Took the TE to Tom to see if he wanted to dig through that nightmare. Looks like a real PITA to work on. (Didn't think you were really that keen on digging into that mess.)Tom hasn't called yet. He may still be trying to figure out how many dozen wires he's gonna have to unsolder just to pull the board up Got a feeling Curt's gonna end up with a big bill on that one. BTW, I hear you were at Silver Eagle tapping e-drums and met our buddy Russell. I may have to haul my old Gibson down there one Sunday if I get time. Brad |
