Smokey Amp into headphone amp Would a Smokey Amp drive headphones properly? If not, what modifications would be necessary? or does anyone have schems for a single LM386-based guitar headphone amp? Thanks in advance! Corwin |

It should work fine, and would probably be too loud for headphones. I'd suggest trying it first with a 270 ohm resistor in series with the Smokey's output, connected to both headphone '+' connections (tip and ring). Make sure to connect the Smokey's ground to the headphone common, also. Let us know how you made out. |

Smokey built I was up late last night bored(too much caffeine), and just whipped up a Smokey in 10 min. (forgot to ground the points that need grounding at first), hooked it up to my 1X12 and it sounds decent for a 1/2W SS amp. Haven't tried it with headphones yet though. I used the Radio Scratch PCB for ICs to make things quick. I might use the other half of the board for a MXR Distortion+ if this doesn't sound good as a pedal. Just my input of the amp. Corwin |

Re: Smokey Amp into headphone amp I built one and use it with head phones. I have a set of head phones with a mono switch and dual volume controls. It works great, dial in distortion with the guitar volume and use the head phone volume for the master. |
