Re: Foam rot in old MXR pedals Pete, I've use thin sheets of (what looks like) latex based foam rubber. To look at it's white, sort of plastic feeling, fairly dense structure. I've had this stuff in for 20 years or so and it's never rotted. It makes excellent damping pads for spring reverb units. About a month ago I pulled one of my old MXR effects out of storage, which was stored in a relatively humid place. On opening the box there was a considerable amount of mould in the enclosure. I left it open for a week and it seemed to disappear. I don't know if the above mentioned material cause this or the storage caused this (other stuff in the box was mouldy too). The question prompted me to think of alternatives and I thought of using that packing foam that comes in thin pink sheets. It's widely used and readily available, it definitely won't rot either. I'm pretty sure that's what I'm going to use to put the Micro Amp back together with. Should have that done tommorrow. I'll be pissed if it doesn't work the first time, but it appears that I've got it well mapped out on paper. I don't think I've seen the pink stuff. There is a craft type store right next to the RS store, I suppose I should stick my head in the door sometime, but going to RS stores is far from my favorite thing to do, so that might not happen for a while.
