Re: Chandler tube driver schematic
The Tube Works 911 might be an exact copy, I've never tried one. My Tube Works TD is an older three-knob version. The original Chandler pedal and the 911 have four-knobs. I also tried a Tube Works Real Tube (five-knobs, it has a mid control) and while to me it did sound better than the old three-knob TD I didn't like it as much as a Chandler TD. In the Real Tube I liked a lower gain tube (like a 12AY7 or even a 12AU7) but in the Chandler I prefer a 12AX7.

OK so now we needthe schematics for the chandler rackmount version, the tubeworks 911, and the tube works real tube.

If anyone has them let us know. We wanna compare and contrast

Hehe Yes, schematics of all would be great, but I'm not technically gifted enough in electronics to compare them. Although, I am a member of the Eric Johnson mailing list, of which he participates in once in a while, and we have discussed the 911 and Chandler pedal in depth to a point, though never have compared exact circuits. We are pretty positive the 911 is the same as the original 4 knob Chandler. Someone also said it is constructed *better* than the original - can't remember if it was Butler himself, or what. Now that I think of it, maybe we could ask him. I think he is on the net.

If you have his info please ask him to lend his thoughts. I'd like to know what the main differences are between the rackmount and the pedal version are.

I have a "Tube Driver B. K. Butler" schematic with Hi and Lo controls, has the heaters connected across the transformer, presumably 12VAC, the cathodes are negative with respect to ground. 10k/10k potential divider between the tube stages. The in/out switch grounds one of the opamp inputs, like a bluesbreaker.

This is the http://www.tonefrenzy.com/2/chandler_tube_driver.htm, perhaps. Huge amounts of 2nd Harmonic distortion when I run it through circuitmaker. Looks easy to build, actually.

Excellent! Can you put the schematic on a website somewhere, or point us to it?

I don't know if this is the same schematic Frank was talking about, but here's an AC cord version:

and here's a wall wart version:
