Book On Audio Transformers
Jason,

Sorry, but I can't recommend a good book on audio transformers.

I did buy the one recommend by Randall Aiken at his site, Audio Transformer Design Manual by Robert G. Wolpert. But it's $42, out of print, and not for beginners. What it does is tell you how to design AUDIO transformers, assuming you know everything else. So that's not what you want.

There are a lot of books at http://www.audioxpress.com/index1.htm that may help, but I didnt' see anything on transformers. That's Old Colony Sound Labs and the other books are great for beginners (like me). Radio Shack may have something, but I haven't noticed anything.

There's one someone recommended to me (I can't remember who), Handbook of Transformer Design & Applications by William M. Flanagan, ISBN 0070212910, $53 at Boarders Books. For that amount of money I'd wanna see it first.

I suspect it may be more of an EE college class supplement or reference. But that may be what you want depending on where you're at. I'm planning on buying it one of these days. So many books, so little time...

E-mail me if you find anything impressive. I'm in the knowledge acquisition business too.

Cheers,

Jason - not sure if you've read this one yet, but RG has a nice article at GEO.

Jason,

There is no site. Robert is retired and doesn't have the Internet. I got the recommendation from Randall Aiken's site http://www.aikenamps.com/Bibliography.html It's the 4th one down on the booklist. Or if that link doesn't work got to the main site, select Tech Info/Introductory (Aiken)/"A bibliograpy of "must have" tube electronics books".

You'll have to call him. When I talked to him I got one of the last ones. I asked him if he'd make more. He just laughed and said, "Naaah, I'm getting too old for this."

Cheers,

There are probably better ones, but this one is dirt-cheap and fairly easy to follow:

"Coil Design and Construction Manual" - B.B. Babani (ISBN 0-85934-050-3).
