I've never been too pleased with the sound of a line level output tapped from the speaker jack (at least the ones on the amps I've owned!). The best line outs are frequency compensated to simulate the response of various speaker cabinets and may use transformers and/or inductors. Or so I have heard... I've just tried the crappy ones that sound like sh*t.

You might try the H&K Red Box Plus, which plugs in line with your speakers and offers balanced or unbalanced line level outputs. Some people swear by them; other people swear *at* them.

IMHO if you use a lot of effects, practically any line out will sound pretty good if you set the EQ on the board properly. It is when you are trying to get the authentic sound of the amp itself that most of the circuits fall short.

P.S. I remember there being a lot of confusion over wiring up the 3 pins so it was always a good idea to make up a short mike cable that would reverse the pins. Or will a phase switch on the mixer handle that just as well? (I think that most mixers have those switches these days... and if they don't, they should!)

Yeah the Output I am Looking for is just to give my Bass Some Tube Colourization, for when I am playing in Church I would like to build a clone of the tech21 Bass driver but am unable to find any schematics, I've got a tube Amp but it has no Effects loop, and This amp won't be staying like this for long, (It's going to get stripped and rebuilt as a Mark 1 Clone, the Transformers are pretty close to spec so It should be close)

the phase inversion switch on the desks will generally switch pins 3 and 2, and still leave pin 1 the same, (I have found using this phase reversal is good for eliminating Excessive natural reverb in a hall, Just set up two mics at the Back corners of the Hall and reverse the Phase and feed it back into the system, It works Wonders)

Oh, so you play bass! I thought all of you bass players just split the signal and ran one line direct into the board... 8-)

So what if you tried that, but just ran the buffered signal from your bass through a tube preamp? That might give you some tube coloration...

I'm a Bass Player and a Guitarist and The Head Sound tech for my Church, problem Is the Only Tube Preamp I have is my 100watt Head with no loop or line out,

and I don't run the Speakers from the amp when using it coz we have I custom Designed a Foldback system using Headsets so as to cut down the On stage noise,

It works really well, In one Ear you get your Instrument, and in the other Ear you get a Mix Of the Other Instruments, (It is really good for the confidence of some of the Older Pianists)
