Screen Grid Resistors on a BFPR? Opinions please!
More questions from a newbie: my '66 PR does not have screen grid resistors. Should I put them in? What size...470 ohm 1 watt, 2 watt or even 5 watt? Will it change the tone? I love the way this amp sounds cranked and am I risking a transformer meltdown with them?
Thanks

Beto, I'm thinking of trying this on my '66 BFPR too. It's recommended by several gurus that I've read. See the thread about the princeton reverb pi mod, I believe I was linked from there to several interesting pages. BTW, it's a great amp, isn't it???

An easy way to do this is to remove the singular screen voltage feed wire from the circuit board (it goes to the #2 6V6 screen lug #4) , and replace it with a 1K 2W mtl oxide resistor.
That's it.
There should be virtually no difference in tone and it will drop the screen voltage only a few more volts at idle and full power.
