Screen Grid Resistors on a BFPR? Opinions please! More questions from a newbie: my '66 PR does not have screen grid resistors. Should I put them in? What size...470 ohm 1 watt, 2 watt or even 5 watt? Will it change the tone? I love the way this amp sounds cranked and am I risking a transformer meltdown with them? Thanks |

Beto, I'm thinking of trying this on my '66 BFPR too. It's recommended by several gurus that I've read. See the thread about the princeton reverb pi mod, I believe I was linked from there to several interesting pages. BTW, it's a great amp, isn't it??? Keith |

An easy way to do this is to remove the singular screen voltage feed wire from the circuit board (it goes to the #2 6V6 screen lug #4) , and replace it with a 1K 2W mtl oxide resistor. That's it. There should be virtually no difference in tone and it will drop the screen voltage only a few more volts at idle and full power. Bruce |
