Re: DSP development system pricing!!!
Amazon.com has 500+ books on DSP, and one in particular that applies C++ to DSP. No experience with ANY of these books.

Not sure C++ per se is the best approach to application-level code, but probably good for learning principles.

Got a university/community college handy?

"First Principles of Discrete Systems and Digital Signal Processing"

Robert D. Strum
Donald E. Kirk

(Addison-Wesley Publishing Company)
ISBN 0-201-09518-1

I guarantee that this is the best introductory text on DSP you can read.

Don't be intimidated by the large numbe of pages. There's no exotheric stuff there, just the basics. But EVERY single concept is explained with the aids of examples, in a step by step fashion, with plenty of pictures.

Thanks! I'll get that book, though I am not sure that I have the necessary math background. ( I dont like math much). Will this be a serious problem?

If you know complex numbers and trigonometric functions it's OK. If you have a notion of what an integral and a derivative is, better.
