6V6 Load for output, AB1 P-P: ~8000 Ohms
6L6 " " ~3800 Ohms

Youse guys can do the math(it's too early for me!) But it seems to make sense that this would work, since the 6V6 is roughly twice the output impedence of the 6L6, Ohm's law, loosely applied, when you put 2(pairs) in series would halve the impedence. That would match your 4K primary. Does this make sense?-feel free to correct me. It sounds like a fun project-I've heard a 4 6V6 amp, it sounded amazing, though not very loud-about the same as a Bandmaster. Like a miniature twin!

SteveF and Chris D.,
Thanks for the input! I am completely psyched to try this combo out now. Now I have to decide on some 10" speakers for it.;-) Looks like 2000 will be starting off in a toneful fashion!

My old Twin is rebuilt with 4 6V6s. Had to drop the B+ a bit, but I left in the UL taps and it's real real nice. Run 'em about 50 mA a tube. Gets pretty hot in there but it sounds GREAT.

Daver,

I just finished building a 5F6A with 4 X 6V6 power. I used Bassman/Super transformers on both ends and it sounds great. It uses 4 x 10" Alnico Speakers wired for 2 Ohms.
I used the Bassman schematic up to the PI, then the 5F8A Twin schematic from the PI out. The only problem was it was a little HOT at first so I used a Zener to bring the voltage down to a better level. It has the tone of 6V6's with the power of a Bassman.

Good luck with your project.

Casey4s,
Cool pics! What kind of wood is that? Who made the chassis and what brand are the speakers? I've been thinking of using an EF-86 (ala AC-15) feeding the bassman/twin style cathode follower. Maybe even use a *Bumble* tone stack for it as well. Could be a cool Frankenstein kind of amp! I'm definitely going to start on this after the first of the year. As usual, I've gotten great advise, input and encouragement from all the ampagers.

Daver,

The Wood is American Black Walnut, The chassis is from AES, it is one of their surplus specials,it's just like a Hammond, and was $12.00 (17x7x3)." And the speakers are Eminence with Kapton formers. They were priced right, and their performance has been great.
