Got a chance to see Robin at Buddy Guy's club saturday, shook hands with Buddy,no wimmpy grip there. The imfamous Dumble was nothing but outstanding ..... Ivan Nevile on keys,Jim Earl on bass,Hillary Jones on drums and I might add that young laddy can play the hell out of the drum's.He played the tele, and switch to the strat.Nothing but pure TONE!!!!!!Beers had by all and made it home safe, what a weekend. Got to build one P.S had to tell someone

Tjam,
I saw Robben Ford at Buddy's on Sat. too! Didn't get to see Buddy though. Yeah, great show. He was sure in the "zone" that night. No Signature model Fender, though. But it still was tone city with the infamous Dumble!

To tjam and Dave:

Were either of you able to establish the approximate vintage of the Dumble amp used by Robben? In other words, do you think it was a Skyliner ODS from the 90's, or one of the earlier models he had used before them? Was his guitar plugged directly into the amp? Did it look like anything was plugged into the FX loop?

--Thanks!

i think his amp is custom made for him by dumble. i.e., its a robben ford model dumble. but im pretty sure its a 90's model and has the skyline eq and all that. there are a bunch of these robben ford dumbles floating around. for example, dave barber (burn unit, tone pump guy) used this amp for modeling his dumble pedal. anyways, robben has stipped down his rig, he only uses the tc2290 in the effects loop (no reverb), volume pedal, cry baby, dumble channel switch/boost. also, no more fender elite robben ford model. i guess he didn't want to be associated w/ those guitars b/c the ones fender are putting out now suck. tele and p90 les paul sounded great though
hope this answers your questions steve,
best,
charlie

I think RF's amps is probably pretty customized to his taste. I guess Robben probably has more Dumbles than any other user (there is a guy in Illinois who has a whole bunch of them though, except I undertand he can barely play the guitar).

Arrrggg... I will have to pretend this topic didn't come up... (terrible experience there). Moving on,

quote:
"anyways, robben has stipped down his rig, he only uses the tc2290 in the effects loop (no reverb)"

Except the 2290 is the kitchen sink. What doesn't it have? Delay, reverb, chorus, compression and even EQ?

"also, no more fender elite robben ford model. i guess he didn't want to be associated w/ those guitars b/c the ones fender are putting out now suck. "

Is that a factual piece of information? IF so, one is to assume the RF model will be discontinued?

Thanks,

Gil

Buddy was by the door when I came in Daver. The amp looks like the one in his teaching video-Back to the blues part 2 where he talks about the gear. You can see it a whole lot closer than I could get at the show other wise I'd still be stiff legged!!!Should have brought a cammera.I've got an elite, bought it before he made them high dollar or should I say fender raised the price. It was made in Japan before the custom shop started to produce them.No sound chambers. WHO,WHO and Who in ILL. could own such an amp and not share !!!! I ask you WHO???? O.K just jealous. Hey Daver Chris Durate nov. 19
