Homebrew Convention Interest?
I've thought on a number of occasions that it would be interesting to get folks together for a DIY convention of sorts where everyone could meet, and homebrews could be shown. Something like a hamfest, but and directly related to homebrew ampbuilding. Check out what people have built, see real live examples of great amps. Maybe have some sort of guest speaker... Flea market atmosphere?

Put the general logistics of putting something like this together aside for a moment... If something like this was put together and you could drive 8 hours or less to get to it, would anyone be interested in attending? Obviously, it would depend on the timing, yada yada. If the seas parted and something like this got organized, would anyone care?

What would you like to see? (Yes, "I'd like to see you committed" is a valid answer. :) )

I would be game. I have met some " net people" from coast to coast and it was always gre to do that.

Since I live in Los Angeles, 8 hours in either direction would put me in...hmmm... Mexico, Eureka or Phenix. :)

That's true... 8 hours won't get many people to a centralized location. That is a logistics problem, however. If there is any substantial interest, we can gather up the info on where everyone is and see how we're scattered around abd where would make sense. The best plan would probably be holding it in a city where someone lives so that they could help coordinate it locally.

Wow! Eureka in 8? Are you building homebrew engines, too? We gotta talk! :-)

I don't condsider myself a homebrewer. I'm learning basics, and I've learned a few. I would, however, be very interested to attend and see what's brewing. Heck, it might just motivate me to build a JTM-45 clone, or a tweedy, or... :-O

And Gil, the offer still stands. Since Seattle is more than 8 hours away (unless you're REALLY building some REALLY serious engines) you may use my place to "store" your amp to make room available for the next project.
