"N U" NATIONAL 6V6...

FJ,

National Union was a well known manufacturer/brand from the late 1920s/early 1930s until at least the early 1950s. While almost every manufacturer "out-sourced" particular items from time to time I suspect that NU actually manufactured your tubes. As to the degree of "elitism," your ears are the best test of the tubes.

Who is "national" today??
I noticed tubes that are made in either China or Russia and sold under the National name (white with red boxes).

Who are they?. Are these Sovtek 6v6 tubes or some other russian factory thaat closed down.??

Just wondering. Anyone know???

Rich,

National has been a re-brander for a fairly long time, about 20 years if my memory serves, buying tubes from most any source. Absolutely no connections to National Union.

Yes, National today is from Richardson. All the National 6V6s I've seen have been Sovtek. The old design with black glass that suck.
