Billy Gibbons' AMP(s) revisited...
Well I must say...WHAT-A-TONE!!!...lots-O-rack mount stuff...Marshall stuff...BUT... on stage he had >>>6<<< 4X12's!... and just ONE visible amp (that had a little "spot lite" on it at ALL times...a TWEED PRO.SUPER, oR DELUXE!...wide panel one w / the chrome bar dwn the middle!...FWIW...Frank....absolutely the coolest LIVE TONE I've heard in a LONG-TIME!

Do you think that the tweed amp was there just for "show", or maybe all of the other amps were slaved off of it?

Did anyone catch the Reverend on David Letterman earlier this week? He and Dusty were playing through what looked like a tweed style bassman combo covered in balck tolex. The each used two, stackd one on the other. Gibbons was playling a Tele style guitar with a single humbucker and 2 goofy looking attenna-like things attached to the front (curb feelers?). I wasn't too impressed with his playing, REALLY laid back, but the sound - Fat,FAt, FAT!! It sounded like he was tuned down but I'm not positive. No boxes were visible. Mike

That must have been the new black tolex version of the Peavey Classic 50-410 I keep hearing about... NOT! < g >

IMHO I think that yeah the Tweed was the 1st AMP in CHAIN...it just had that "LOOSE-vibe" kinda sensitivity thing...he also had a little TWEED CHAMP which I believe was converted into sort of a funky stomp-box fixture...it had @ 5-6 "PANDORAS BOX" pedals tied together on it!...Man is that man SMOOTH!...TONE+++++++++++++++!

Do you mean Pandora or Expandora? The former is a modest Korg digital multi-fx box, the latter is an analog distortion unit. A GP article within recent memory has a picture of a "tree"-type rack with 6 Expandoras on it. I assume it is the second you mean.

The thought of someone running out and buying a bunch of Pandoras to get Gibbons-tone is a little surreal.
