5E3 + ts808 + 4X12 = ?...
I'm curious if I'm the only sap that carries on in this way?...Is it wrong to fathom the application of a "stomp-box" with an amp known to sound "killer" in its original form!...GOTTA try this setup!...speakers are EMINENCE "BR-8'S"...Frank. http://www.blast.net/fjr/Toaster.html

Just off the top of my head, have you checked with Triode electronics, or SND tube sales? They're two places I would try. Angela instruments is another possibilty.

I know of a guy who *toured* (a major lbl nat'l tour of medium size clubs) using a champ thorugh a 4x12 with a LP. Nothing wrong with that! :-) I do this sort of sillyness in the studio a lot. Some of my best moments were just plugging stuff in randomly and whipping the knobs around until something wierd happened..

ps: try 2 ts808's in a row.

I've never had good result with the 5E3 in conjunction with the tube screamer. It just seems to make the amp go to mush. When I do manage to get a good sound with the 808, I realize it's a cheaper version of the cranked deluxe with the tone set higher.

I do think the 808/ts-9 sound great with larger tweed amps, but I've switched to fuzz pedals for use w/the 5E3.

Joe,

I agree. The TS9 just doesn't do anything with a tweed deluxe except thin out or veil the tone

I prefer the Fulltone '69 pedal, but realize they may be in "different categories"

to me they're just pedals, to some the TS9 is an overdrive and the '69 is a fuzz. whatever.

fwiw I don't use pedals with the 5E3 much at all either. I use a dynacomp every here & there, but mostly I just dig the sound of the amp into different cabs or with alternate tube complements. At the moment it's running a Mullard GZ34 and a pair of Svetlana 6L6GC's with some nice old 12AX7's in the preamp. I agree that with the simpler amps, the tone straight through is much fuller and any pedal seems to just be "less" when you A/B. A Deluxe Rvb or a Super Rvb is a much better place for pedals IMHO.
