Anyone ever heard of Sanyo Amps? Hey gang!! I have a Sanyo amp Model 16W (so it appears) that has 2=12AX7's, 1=5Y3, and 2=EL84's. It's a pretty "interesting" design (ha, ha)...but it came as a 1-12 combo and the speaker was a Jensen. I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about this company or had worked on these amps? I know it was made in N.J. Thanks!!! Trace |

Is it maybe "SANO?" If so, it's an accordian amp. Oh and I'll buy it off ya if you want. I collect accordian amps. Farrow http://surf.to/pharaohamps |

Ha, ha....by God you are right on the money Farrow!! I must be loosing my sight in my older age!! (ha, ha)
I doubt you'll want it now Farrow. I've been been re-working the circuit. It's nothing like it used to be. I'm using it for a studio guitar amp. I do have the original Jensen that was in it if you are interested. Feel free to email me Trace

Hey Trace, I think I may have the same amp. It says '16 watts' on the control panel. It also says "high quality musical instrument amplifier", so it must be good;^) It's a 1x12 combo with the same tubes as yours. It has inputs for accordian, guitar and instrument, plus a jack for a tremolo footswitch. I don't have the footswitch though. It seems like a decent amp, but I haven't had the extra time to check it out. It's on the ever growing 'to do' list. What did you change on yours? |

Carlo, it's the same by god! (ha, ha) They don't really sound all that good for guitar, well at least not stock. I'm just adding some final tweaks to it now. I can send you a schemtic of you like? I kept the volume and tone knob as is. I disconnected the tremelo (Ihave a bunch of amps with trem) and used that 1/2 og the 12AX7 for a bit more gain. I removed all the input jacks and footswitch jack and wire one jack with a 1meg to ground and 68K. I added a 500K "pre-gain" pot. So as you can see I'm pretty far from "stock" which is why I'd have send you a schemtic! (ha, ha)
Right now I'm really digging the amp. It has a noce vintage tone with the pre-gain on 10 and the master anywheres from 1-4. When you crank the master past "4" it hit the EL84's and sounds amazing! You have to love EL84s, there's something magical about them? Drop me an email if you want a schemtic. Trace Right now
