Re: KittyHawk M1 gainchannel Thanx for the pointer. I donīt like the gain channel(s) much, but Iīm sure its possible to do something about this by experimenting. Iīve been planning and pondering this for about a year or two now, but itīll probably be one more before I get around to it... I donīt agree on the clean channel. Big, bold, rich, blah... To my ears this channel is one big sweetspot, almost no matter what setting. Iīm running class A, with 6L6īs (specially biased for these, I donīt recommend using the 6L6/EL34 switch) and a 12AU7 as V1, the rest AX. What are you using? Note; this is not sparkling clean ā la Twin, itīs just on the verge of being raunchy, slightly compressed and very brown, responsive to your playing. I like it that way. I think the hardwood cabinet also has something to do with it. |

I'm also using 6L6's, with 12AX7 in all preamp and PI positions. I agree about the clean channel, it's not all that clean, but you can get some nice blues tones from it. I have also been looking at the schem for quite some time now, trying to figure out what to do with the od channel. Today when I saw that you had posted the schem at your website, I started a thread in the Guitar Amps forum to get suggestions for mods for this amp. Hopefully we will get some suggestions there.
