Looking for repair person for Kitty Hawk amp
HELP!

I have a Kitty Hawk M1 (Grand Lead) guitar amp head that needs repair.

Can anyone direct me to a technician who might be able to fix it?? I live in Virginia, but will ship it.

Dan: I have a schematic of a Kitty Hawk M1 from when they first came out a long time ago. What's the problem...maybe I can help out.

Bob,

I'm very interested in your schema of the M1.

I own a M1 which needs several repair. Tonecontrol reacts very, very passiv or not at all. The all over sound is very buzzy. So at least I gues I need to replace the potmeters and rebias the tubes. The biasswitch at the bottom is without indication (EL34/6L6-switch??).

I live in The Netherlands (Europe)

Maybe Steve A. would be good enough to add the schematic to his site for all of us to ponder?

Bob and Huub - read this!
I also have an M1, and a schematic (and I was the guilty party in directing Dan here to ask for a repairperson in his area).Bob; is that a scan of the M3/M1 scan by KittyHawk or something else? Wanna compare schems? Iīd like that, since parts of the preamp schematic are difficult to read.I put it up for all to see at www.oli.tudelft.nl/burgundy/effects/m1.zip(400k)The way I can decipher the preamp schem, I just donīt get the channelswitching system. It seems both channels are always on, one more than the other? Have a look. I havenīt yet traced my own M1 to see whatīs really in there. Anyone?Huub; Iīm also Dutch, I might be able to help, or have a couple of adresses for you.Had je niet verwacht zeker?

Mike,

The schematic is actually in two parts. One part reads "M1 Preamp, Reverb" and the 2nd part reads "M1&M3 Power Amplifier, 100 watts". These are copies I got years ago from a company in NJ (Time Electronics?) who at that time was an authorized repair center for Kitty Hawk stuff.

I've got these schematics on 11x14 paper which won't fit into my scanner. I'll be happy to U.S. mail you a copy if you email me your address.

The relay grounds the grid of the third stage in the channel not selected. The LDR's switch values in the voltage dividers between stages in the OD channel.

I also have this amp, the 60W model with 2 EL34/6L6. I never liked the OD channel at all, the tone controls dont seem to do much. The clean channel sounds OK but not great.

Is there anything that can be done to make the OD channel usable.
