TRansistor replacements for Hogs Foot BAss Booster Can anyone tell me a suitable replacement for 2n5133's whicih the hog's foot bass booster schematic requires ? Would any NPN to92 transistor work (such as mpsa18 or 2n3906) THANX |

Following "R.G. Keen's Law of Substitution", you might try the 2N5088 and see how that works...... |

| Gus | 2n3906 is a PNP the 2n3904 is a npn. 2n3904 should work |

Any high gain NPN should work fine. The unit's not designed as a distortion device, just a gentle booster. Overdrive it with another hot signal, and you may start to notice differences between transistors. FWIW I always use 2N5089s for this sort of thing. |

Is it possible to replace the i/o caps to a larger value to get more bass out of the unit? THanx1 |

Only if the stock values are limiting the bass response, which would seem unlikely in a bass booster, wouldn't it? --tboy |
