Effects switching Are there any relatively simple transistor or IC based bypass switches for effects pedals that can use a momentary contact switch? Bill R. |

The problem is the word "simple". There are lots of them, but they're not too simple. Easiest is probably Craig Anderton's electronic bypass from the Electronics Projects for Musicians book. |

There is a generic CMOS / FET bypass circuit used in DOD pedals that was published in POLYPHONY by the designer. The switch is expandable (i.e., one press could get you SPDT, DPDT, DPTT, etc. depending on components used) and includes an LED power indicator. Power consumption is fairly low (about 2ma "on"). I have a scan of it I can forward, but you can see a preview by looking at just about any of the 5xx series of DOD pedals (Flanger, Autofilter, Chorus, Phaser) at the various schematic archives around. Just look for something with a 4007 and a momentary switch. |
