6L6 Testing is in progress as we speak (write?). The "report" will be out end of this month or beginning of July. Mook PS - Other "reports" can be found at http://www.rru.com/~meo/Guitar/MooksTasteTests/ |

| anonymous | I have a pair that will be "tested". As much as possible, I'm going to try and do a "blind" taste test. I will put the duets (I have 10 different pair) in a box, I will draw from the box and insert them into the sockets. I'll probably leave the chassis out of the cabinet to facilitate re-adjusting of the bias. But, I'll put an aluminum cover over the chassis to prevent oscillation and fingers from acidentally going into the chassis. However, from feel, some tubes are unmistakeable. For instance, you cannot mask that "wafer" base of the cheap Russian "5881". In other cases, the stubbines of the Philips is unmistakable, too. So, for the most part, it will be a "blind" test. Results due out beginning of July. Mook |

Mook: Can you have a helper select & install the tubes? As you say, many 6L6-type tubes have a particular shape that's a tell-tale feature. I'd at least have to wear thick gloves to mask the feel if I were doing the testing. Doc |

Good idea! I'll wear thick gloves - which will be better for installing tubes when "blind" into a open amp. Mook |
