circuitmaker Hello, does anybody know how to add tube models to the circuitmaker? Everytime i try to save a macro, it gives an error. K. |

Krem, Some time back we had a big thread going on this and we all pretty much agreed that we needed to start sharing our files. But somehow it didn't happen. One guy put a whole file in a thread but I couldn't make it work, I'm sure because I'm too new to Circuitmaker. I still think this a great idea. I got into software engineering in the late 70s building NASTRAN models for Pratt & Whittney who make turbojet engines. They build these huge (mechanical) models of their engines, run them on a test stand, compare predicted vs. real results, then tweak the models and start again. I did a lot of the tweaking. When I was there they had some extremely good models and could reliably predict how a given condition would affect an engine. I think we could do something like that here. Over a period of time we could do the smart thing like the mechanical and electronic engineers do with their models: try it out in the computer first. If it looks okay, try it out on the bench and compare the results against the model. I'm just thinking out loud here. Anybody else got any thoughts or suggestions? Cheers, Steve Slick |

Hello, i've got the first half of the thread saved, with the model library. The problem is, that anytime i try to add a model, it says "Error bla bla". Then i try to expand the macro, and the whole program crashes down. I think it's a bug in the program itself, did anybody note this too? Yes, it's a GREAT idea. I did for example whole 5150 circuit and simulated it If anybody interested, i can provide the 5150 file. Live long and prosper, K. |

Kremator, I had exactly the same problems. If you just take the triode part in text, and overwrite the contents of Triode.sub, and then take the tetrode part of the text and overwrite Tetrode.sub it all works. BTW, you don't seem to be able to model Pentodes directly, but of course for most amps they're wired as a Tetrode anyway. Liam |

Hello, I wanted to have EL84 EF86 and EL34s to simulate. I'll try the file editing, but i'll have to change the models. Thanks for the idea, as i wouldn't think of it myself. I tried to add pentodes as tetrodes and of course it didn't work. K. |

Kremator, they're all in there, but they are named as tetrodes. The models are correct, but they assume the extra screen is connected to the cathode, which it is in almost all cases. If you think you might have the wrong library files I can mail them to you. Don't try to add them through the macros, just overwrite the files manually with notepad. I was having the same problems until I tried this. |
