||link in a old thread (carving a les paul top)|
i found a link in a thread to a site that showed pictures and a description of how the top of a lp was being routed and then carved but forgot to bookmark it, and one know what thread it was in or the address

I saw that too. I think it was by Paul Sarabia, but I'm not sure. I'm starting a site to share some of my guitar construction experiences. The site is crude and only half-baked but you might find some useful info there. I also found some great ideas in Bob Benedetto's book on arch top construction. He drills a series of holes into the top to mark the depth as he carves. Neat idea, hard to describe.

Nice looking les paul,Paul.I hope my project turns out as good as that one.I would want the finish to be more faded as in older les pauls(also to hide some craftmanship boo boo).with regards to R.L.'s question. The tread is under theopinions page under"heres some pictures" started by John Fisher.Hope to see more pictures on your les Paul Paul.

I leared a lot from the other 2 Pauls here. Hope to see more of their stuff soon.
