| Lou | Gibson Maurader controls I am restoring a Gibson Maurader Deluxe guitar and there used to be a pot control to switch and blend the bridge and neck pickups. Does anyone know what type that was and where I can purchase one? (anyone with a working bridge p/u for sale) Thanks much Cheers Lou |

I'm not sure what they used, but it can be done with a 'pan pot' without too much difficulty. WD do them, I'm not sure if Stew Mac have got them. |

You can find a schematic at: http://www.guitar-parts.com/images/gibson5.jpg I'm not sure it's the right schematic since it doesn't seem to involve a blend control. |

| Lou | Anders - Thanks very much this is a good start. Just tested the bridge p/u and it is shot and the neck one is not any better.Any one have one for sale or how would you reconnect the leads on these molded p/u's. Thanks Cheers Lou |

If the PU is broken inside, forget it. You can't get inside without destroying it. If you suspect the leads themselves (not so likely, though) put in needles through the isolation as close as possible to the PU and measure between the needles. I don't know if it's a common problem with broken molded PU's, I recently bought a RD Standard bass where one PU was changed to a low budget guitar PU, maybe because the original had broke (just my two cents since you don't chose a cheapo guitar PU if you want to improve your instrument). Fortunately I was lucky to find a NOS PU on a guitar show (the RD series is not so common and this black molded PU was only used on RD Standard basses, so I guess it was my lucky day). |
