glue and heat
Thought I'd share this experience: I wanted to try plyeurthane glue (it's the best according to the label!). So I ran a test against Titebond II. I glued up some mahagony and cut out several 1/4" pieces. Both glue joints did very well. I had hardly any failures at the joint. Especially impressive was the water resistance, I soaked pieces overnight, they still held up. The big failure, an the reason I'm writing this is the poor results of the heat test. I heated both types of glued samples for about 20 minutes. They were quite warm to the touch (not hot). They both faied on the glue joint! Remember this when you have your instrument in the sun! The polyeurthane is also very messy, I can't recommend it for this reason.
