Re: action in relation to twang - pickups Something no ones mentioned is neck relief. If your banging out the open cords ala James Burton (thats my deffinition of twang!), you want a clear open sound. If your neck is too tight (I mean guitar neck rod) the strings will rattle against the frets (tone killer). The best advice I've heard is to adjust for just the amount of relief you need. I hold the string down at the 1st and 15th position and look for a slight amount of clearance at the 7th fret. I should say that it is different for each of my guitars. Good luck. pg
