Re: 70's Fender Humbuckers Reissues
Doc, I asked the tech at the shop I traded it at about the reissues and he said he had gotten them for a customer.

He didn't get to hear them though.

Nic, If you haven't heard these, its a requirement for any Tele lover. If you ever see an original try it, you'll be pleased. Its definatly great for rocking and gives a great "woman" tone on solos. I'm glad you like the eissue Custom. If I ever see one I'm probally gonna fall in love...

Thats a bummer about the Reissues not being made in japan anymore, they are IMHO the equal, or even supeior, to all the USA stuff. I am inpressed with my Mex reissue 50's Tele, but just the fact that you cant get the Japanese guitars hurts. I traded a USA strat plus for my first Japanese tele and strat. Lets just say I walked away from that deal with a big Sh*t eating grin. They are all I use now. If I see used ones cheap enough I'm gonna scoop them up.

I have always been one of the few people I know who felt the quality of Japanese made Fenders were as high if not higher than the American counterparts... Everything but the standard Japan RI pick ups. Pulled them outta my strat.

Hey Doc! I found a "real" one!
Well, I dropped by the so called Trading Musician, here in Seattle looking for a nice humbucker for my new project only to find a '74 Fender "Seth Lover" pick up in the stand. They wanted $95 for the Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates and $99 for the Fender. I made the guy pull it out so I could take a closer look. He tried telling me he thought it was "rewound by this guy".

I asked, "you mean Seth Lover?"

He said, "Yeah."

I sorta gave him a look and said, "It was not likely." and that it was more likely that it was of his design... I asked him for a screwdriver and requested to have a pole removed. It was a magnet. The wires looked a bit messy like a band mate had once installed it into a guitar with speaker wire. But the overall condition looked to be good. Not too many scratches on the face or anything.

Needless to say they refused to give me a deal on the pick up I wanted but did assure me that they where much more flexable with price on used pick ups. Doc, I thought you were looking for one some time ago. You interested?
