Re: Answers from a Telephile (long) StewMac does have cast block-type brass saddles, as a kind of best-of-both-worlds attempt. I think. Where´s that %$# catalog? |

| Hi |
A friend of mine gave me a weird guitar a few years ago, a cheap Japanese made tele-copy (siunds great, where did those factorites get those great pickups for those cheap guitars?), a Lotus of all things. But it had this really interesting bridge, six barrels instead of saddles. You can intonate each string and still have barrels. They aren't brass, but he had put a brass nut on it, another interesting thins; not fixed in position, just held in place by string tension. Doesn't play as nice as a Fender, but plays well and sounds great. Wonder if anybody at Fender ever thought of this type of bridge setup? Hi |

The most common japanese Squier tele bridge, teles like the Nashvlle, and CBS era teles do have individual "barrel" saddles (I loosely referred to them as trunnions). They are individually adjustable for string height and intonation length, but they just don't have the great sustain capabilities that the double string brass saddles have. |

| Hi |
Thanks for pointing that out, Doc. I have a lot (way too much for my own good!) of experience with strats, but never played teles much. Here lately I've been discovering just what I was missing! Hi |
