Re: Cleaning Music Man fretboard This is a good topic. It is in the details that we all win or fail. I've alway used gibson guitar polish. the water in it tends to desolve the water based dirt and the emusified wax gets the other stuff. I just rub it in with my finger and wipe off with an old tee shirt. Would like to know if my efforts are a harm to the instrument but I have had no problems with this method for some 40 years! I hope someone with real expertise responds to this. HAVE I BEEN SREWING UP FOR YEARS? |

I have been using NAPTHA (lighterfluid) as a solvent, with 0000 steelwool. For really dirty boards, use safty razors as Andy recommends above. Try using GUN STOCK OIL to finish MAPLE BOARDS ONLY. Works and looks great. |

| Dodge | Hmm, I'm still not brave enough to attack my fingerboard with a razor blade, and nothing else I try seems to shift it. I guess from now on, the best plan would be to minimize further dirt. There is NOTHING better than a Musicman unfinished neck though... Cheers Dodge |
