A reply from Stew Mac about their lacquer. This is the responce I got via e-mail about the nitrocellulous lacquer that they sell... I also received my shipment of sealer and gloss coat from them Yesterday... I think I will post an online building journal so that people can see my progress. Nic, All nitrocellulose lacquer yellows or ambers with age/time. The only finish that I've used that didn't yellow with time is catalyzed acrylic urethane, which is used for automobiles, motorcycles, airplanes and other applications. Other finishes like acrylic lacquer, enamels, some polyurethane, and polyesters don't amber as well. I would consult with local automotive paint shops to see what they have available and that will be compatible with the finish on your guitar.
