ChrisW	El Pico (small UK amp) info ? Hi ! I'm searching for some info , notes , layout and/or schematic from the El Pico amplifier , prob. from the U.K. . This amp was used for studio-sessions by the Beatles and The Kinks . Please let me know if you have some info/experience on this little screamer ! In any case many thanks , Chris

Steve Ahola	Chris: I think that I liked it better as "El Pico"... Spanish for "The Small One"? Was this the raunchy amp that was used on "You Really Got Me"? (So was it Dave Davies or Jimmy Page who played the solo on that song...?) --Good luck! Steve Ahola P.S. I bet it was a knock-off of one of those small Kay/Danelectro/Sears amps made in the US back then...

Yes this is the "You really got me"-amp . ( linked to a AC30 ) .

I did spoke a guy today which had talked with D.Davies and D.D. said something about a WEM amp . I did see a page on the net with 2 pictures of the Elpico . ( I guess EL Pico is a South Am. mountain .... ) .

Other info states that an Elpico amp was used .

Coming from Britain I guess it uses an EL84 .

Jimmy Page DIDN'T play the solo !!! ( maybe the solo on Stairway to hell ? ) .

Ted Breaux	I've owned two of these, and there are (at least) two different small green models. The larger of the two is the one used by Davies. FWIW, you aren't hearing solely the Elpico in that tune. Actually, you are hearing the output of the Elpico plugged into the input of an AC30. These little amps are actually small record player and microphone amps.
