The Twin hum My Fender The Twin (redknob '88) hums sometimes after I turn it on. This happens randomly, and the humming usually stops if I turn the amp to standby for few minutes and then on again. The sound much louder than normal backgroung hum & hiss. Any suggestions where to start looking for a fault? |

Erik, When I've seen this, it's usually been one of four problems: a) power tube shorting intermittently b) bad filter cap c) ground problem d) many other things The next time it does it, I would check the power tubes and see if one or more having glowing plates. If it's just one tube, sometimes the fuse won't blow. My experience with these amps is that they get hot as hell; it may be a long-term heat-related component failure (not that that bit of knowledge will necessarily help you at all). Ray Ivers R.A.G.E.
