Converting Pro Jr to 5E3-style? I own a Pro Jr that never liked too much. I am considering to convert its preamp to 5E3-style but taking the same power supply and output stage. Do you think it should work? Thanks in advance |

I think it be a lot of work and it won't sound like a tweed Deluxe with the EL84s so why bother? |

What is Tweed Deluxe's plate voltage? Should Pro jr OT drive a pair of 6V6? Thanks in advance |

I thought the plate-voltage is about 375 Volts . Due to the pcb-constrauction I think it's a hell of a job to convert it to 6V6s ...... Good luck ! Chris |

I'd build a brand new board and put in place new sockets. I'm wondering if PJ's OT will be good for 6V6. Alternatively I may think to take EL84's. What's the difference in tone? Thank you | |

Hi ! I've used a DelRev-O.T. for a cathode biased EL84 pp-amp . I can't tell you about the difference in tone due to the design of the Pro Jnr . In general : EL84 : VOX AC30 , lots of mids , sweet 6V6 : nice 6L6-sound when not overdriven , a little "EL34" when overdriven ( I like 6V6s !!! ) I have to check the ProJunior-schematic . Good luck ! |
