resistor values?????

resistor values????? Hi everyone, Please pardon my electronic ignorance as I am just learning about this stuff. Would a 1k5 resistor be the same as 1500 ohms? Also, could this be written as 1.5k and have the same value? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated THANX |

While Les's "yup" answer is completely right, the reason is, you look back at what you typed and notice how easy it could be to miss the decimal point in sloppy reproductions. So, the k or K is inserted at the same spot the decimal point would occupy so as to make sure the reader sees there is something there!!! 1K5 is obvious while 1.5K could be smeared into 15K with poor artwork or copying.
