New and Improved Matchless schematic section...
With August being "Matchless Month" I thought I better celebrate the occasion with newly added drawings from Mark Sampson himself. For a real treat unzip the dc30fact.zip file and check out the drawing in full color... Might make nice wallpaper for your Windows desktop!

Thanks again for your efforts. This is good stuff. I have a D/C-30 and am trying to get to know her better. Boy-o-boy do I get howling "ghost notes" when I crank her! (Not cone cry...I get it with other cabs). Thinking of upping the power supply filtration a bit.

I had one that did exactly the same thing, I thought it was a parasitic. It sounded like you were playing thru a off key harmonizer when cranked-

Soooo...what did you do?!

I'm tempted to yank the electrolytics and drop in some new ones...maybe increase the filtering a tad.

Zoiks! Rico

I had a DC-30--didn't use it much at the time and sold it right before the prices skyrocketed. Kick myself in the ass. Anyway, I hear alot of complaints about them ghosting.

Anyway, instead of replacing them. I would just try to put a cap in paralell with the first cap and see if I liked the change. I believe it's recommended not to go over 60uF on a GZ34. 33uF is the original value, try adding a 16-20uf in paralell and give that a listen. Maybe add a little down the line. Easist way to start without drastically changing anything.

I sold it!!! Unfortunately it was about 3 years ago, a clean HC 30 head/cab for $1350. Wish I held onto it, coulda got about 3K now. Looking at the pics of HC-30 chassis in another thread, I'm glad I didn't try to work on it, looks like a hassle. It would be interesting to clip a few caps (w/double gator clips) onto the existing ones to see if that helps, might save some work. A freind suggested low quality EF86 tubes can cause this, not sure I believe it but it's worth a shot, esp. if they're Sovteks.
