Tough Choice "Tremolux or Bandmaster" I have the opportunity to buy either a 62 Tremolux piggyback{blonde tolex} or a 63 Bandmaster piggyback {blonde tolex}. Wanting to compare collectability and tonal quality. Please also price range, both amps in very good condition. |

Phil...get'em both!! Your rent can wait. Go here to compare features, etc. http://www.ampwares.com/ffg/index.html That would be a hard choice...but if I HAD to choose just one....probably the Tremolux. Not even sure why. Can't lose with either one....if they are in good working order, and not too outrageously priced. (I just picked up a BF Bandmaster in good condition for $125...gotta love pawn shops). Enjoy your new toy. Brad |

Where do you find a pawn shop owner who doesn't know what a blackface Fender is worth? Our largest local pawnshop sell Vintage Guitar magazine! Lee |

You'd be surprised the stuff we dig up around Denver. We can't quite figure out HOW some of these people price things. That same pawnshop had a black Squire Strat for $300. That kind of craziness is all over town. Something crappy sells high....something great sells low. Maybe it's because it's "just one of those old vacuum-tube amps...nobody uses tubes anymore". We do our best to conceal our excitement, and we NEVER tell them they've been rooked. We have no mercy for a pawnshop. Now, a second-hand or new music store...we'll be much more fair with. We WANT them to keep turning merchandise for a fair price. Pawn shops try to rip EVERYbody....so....why not go for the gold, there? Brad |

One difference between the two is, the Tremolux has a tube rectifier and the bandmaster has a soild state. My vote goes to the Tremolux. JCS |

Thanks for the responce fella's, result was I purchased the Band-Master and freind Bryce bought the Tremolux. They need a good service, etc but I think we a both winners on this score. I am not sure but I believe these amps are not that common here in Austalia, so any indication of thier true worth would be appreciated. Many thanks Phil |
