    I see that your observations on the D'Clones are the same as mine... As for the Two-Rocks boost circuit, I bet that they are switching in a cap and a resistor or two from the anode of the first stage to the top of the volume control (since Steve S. mentioned that the tone controls do have an effect with the boost engaged). So they aren't completely disabling the bass and mid controls as is done with the Humble TSD boost.  
 
    Any ideas on what they might be using? Maybe a .022uF cap followed with a 470k/1000pF RC couplet?

P.S. Have you tried out the D-Deep switch? I find that it really smooths out the high-gain OS sounds without having to resort to the D-Dreaded post OD tone stack...
