G10 Board: Talk To Charlie Barcellona of Swamp
Guys, this is too much! I find it so hard to believe what I read about the G10 board... Clamp it down?! Use a course blade and then grind it down? I went and got me a metal blade with the most number of teeth I could find (using a "general purpose blade," the thing wouldn't really cut right). All my cuts were done the "handheld" way, and since I was sometimes working around the clock, I even did some cuts using a "pull out" cutting board in my kitchen to support the job when it was too late (or I was too lazy) to go outside.

I agree that cutting Swiss cheese with a butcher's knife is slightly easier, but this was cake for me. And as for PCB clad boards (which are probably more like 1/16" thick, I could cut those like it was air.

I would suggest you consider going to Swamp's page www.swampamp.com and order from Charlie -- he has the best prices I could find, and is a very nice guy to deal with. Maybe his stuff has some special mojo on it; bottom line is, you can hammer the thing, stand on it, drive over it, and the thing will just not break. I couldn't think of a sturdier material to use to make circuit boards.

Gil, In order to get straight cuts I clamped a drywall "T" to the sheet of G10, then used that as a fence against the outside edge of the foot of my jigsaw. The cuts have been beautiful and not such a bitch now that I have good carbide blades (they weren't very expensive). Brighter days! Maybe if I had bought a cheap saw life would have been simpler. I'm embarrased enough not to mention what I paid for my jigsaw! Bryan

I know I might have more power tools then most of you guys but I have no trouble ripping the 3'x4' sheets of G10 with my 10" Delta table saw and a common 60 tooth triple chip carbide blade.
I do find the the faster I feed the stock the longer the blade last.
I rip all the stock to 2.5" or 3" wide and take them over to my power miter box, with an equivalent carbide 80 tooth blade and lop them off to length.
I can usually do the entire sheet in just a few minutes.
