Re: power selection switch, question/ choice.
good points ;)
i ordered the transformers this morning should have them early next week. so be expermenting by next weekend

here is the current design that i have, which is useing the cathode switch to remove the tubes.

sorry that the switch set up is hard to see.
also hard to see is the Post PI MV
and i've decided to use a 12at7 instead of an ax7 for the pi

the darker/muted sound is probly not what i want.

basic the amp is just going to be a power amp for anything i want. (weather guitar, keyboard or cd) the preamps are going to be seperate.

Looks cool!

Couldn't you use 1/2 a dpdt switch AFTER the 1R resistors?

If you also used a rotary switch for speaker impedance selection I think you could use the other pole of the dpdt switch to automacally switch to the proper secondary tap since the required load will appear to double when you turn off half the tubes.

Just a thought...

see i knew there was a reason i wanted to have someone else look at it. great idea on the switch there.

still woried about the input though but i think that should work.

as the last guy said, it's a pentode/triode switch. and tho i've never used a boogie 1/2 power switch, i 'd say thats the better method, as the triode pentode changes the sound dramatically. however, if you happen to like that sound then obviously the t/p switch is the way to go. but i've never heard anyone say they like it as much in the 1/2 power or triode setting. i myself don't either.
